This is an interesting take on this subject that is totally new to me. I can definitely see this whole guys who want to be new kinds of guys thing and I know some people personally who I feel fall into that category. It is so sad to see someone complete incapable of showing any kind of humanity and vulnerability, and personally I feel like this issue is very complex and currently we are being terrible to men and boys in our culture and have been for some time and I feel like this plays into things too.

Side note because I am a huge comedy fan and can't help myself, I think that women in comedy are having a moment right now. There are incredible female comedians at the moment. And still a lot of good male comedians too. I love Bill Burr and I think his most recent special is a great counterpoint to this whole thing, because he gets super vulnerable in it. But definitely I hate Joe Rogan and everything he stands for. But there are still a lot of great comedians out there. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Lots to consider here!

The world we’re living in doesn’t encourage empathy, and so many people are on the receiving end, and it’s deeply tragic. But also, you’re totally right about women killing it in comedy right now. In general, I think there’s a ton of good comedy out there, but there is something about the gravitational pull of Austin, culturally speaking. Its influence exists outside of comedy. Almost like the comedy is just a front. Thanks for reading!
